We are excited to announce that SpaceX has been approached to fly two private citizens on a trip around the moon late next year.

SpaceX statement of 27 February 2017. The two customers, who had paid a significant deposit, were to fly on a Crew Dragon launched by a Falcon Heavy once Crew Dragon was flying NASA missions.
What happened: As of October 2026, no private crew has flown around the Moon. On 5 February 2018 Musk said SpaceX had "kind of tabled" flying Crew Dragon on Falcon Heavy, and its crewed deep-space plans moved to the BFR, later called Starship.
