Cybertruck unveil. Also the night the 'armor glass' shattered on stage. Twice. The $39,900 figure was on the slide and in Tesla's order data, not spoken — the event transcript has Musk saying only "That's the price without any incentives".
What happened: No sub-$40,000 Cybertruck has ever been sold. At the November 2023 launch the cheapest listed trim was $60,990 and was deferred to 2025; as of August 2026 the cheapest is the Dual Motor AWD at $69,990, after a $59,990 introductory price ran for about ten days in February 2026.
