Tesla's Q2 2025 earnings call. Dojo was Tesla's in-house supercomputer for training its self-driving software.
What happened: On 7 August 2025 Bloomberg reported that Tesla was disbanding its Dojo team and that Musk had ordered the effort shut down. Musk confirmed it on X, writing that Dojo 2 had become "an evolutionary dead end" once Tesla's chip plans converged on AI6. On 18 January 2026 Musk said Tesla would restart work on Dojo3, now that its AI5 chip design was in good shape.
