Tesla Autonomy Investor Day. CNBC reports he also said Tesla would have over 1 million robotaxis on the road the following year, and warned: "Sometimes I am not on time, but I get it done."
What happened: Tesla had 42 robotaxis registered in Texas as of June 2026, roughly 30 of them running driverless in Austin, plus smaller deployments in Dallas and Houston. Driverless operation began on 22 January 2026 with a single vehicle.
